I recently purchased the Hydrate shower filter and have been really impressed with the difference it has made. My hair feels much softer and healthier, and even the water itself feels nicer on my skin. Such a simple addition to the shower, but it has made a noticeable improvement. Very happy with this purchase!
NaturaWai Shower Filter NZ | Skin & Hair Health
So why ours over others?
Why NZ Tap Water Affects Skin & Hair
New Zealand tap water is commonly treated with chlorine and chloramines, which can be harsh on skin and hair. Combined with heavy metals and sediment from pipework, this can be especially noticeable for those with sensitive skin. Filtering shower water helps reduce these irritants, creating a gentler, more comfortable shower experience for the whole family.

Why should I filter my shower water?
Across NZ tap water, chlorine is added to disinfect water and kill harmful bacteria, essential for drinking, but once that water reaches your shower, chlorine no longer serves a purpose and prolonged exposure can be harsh on your skin and hair.
Here’s why filtering your shower water matters:
- Strips natural oils from skin and hair, leaving them dry, tight, and irritated
- Breaks down amino acids in hair, weakening its natural structure over time
- Can irritate sensitive skin, potentially contributing to itchiness, dryness, rashes, or eczema flare-ups
- Dissolves protective hair lipids, reducing shine, strength, and increasing split ends
- May react with natural hair pigments, which can subtly affect hair colour over time
- Heavy metals can contribute to oxidative stress, which may accelerate collagen breakdown in the skin
- Hot showers can intensify this exposure, as chlorine becomes more volatile in warm water and comes into closer contact with your skin, scalp, and hair.
The Design.
Made from high-quality ABS, the NaturaWai is lightweight yet tough, corrosion-resistant, and designed to last. High-flow tech ensures no pressure drop on your shower. We have used a large filter core, bigger than others on the market, this gives higher filtration over a longer period.
Designed for NZ tap water and tested rigorously on NZ water conditions. The NaturaWai exceeds 95% free chlorine reduction in testing.
